Logic World Wednesdays: Board Models & Component Resizing

by @MouseHatGamesDeveloper3 years ago

Welcome back to another Logic World Wednesday! This week, Logic World surpassed 3,000 wishlists on Steam. Thank you to everyone for your support!

Board Models - Jimmy

I added interactable 3D models to the board menu! Now you can see what your saved circuits look like before you load them.

Sometime in the future I’d like to let you 3D print these models. I would love to have a little circuit for my desk, that would just be so cool.

Resizable Components - Jimmy

I’ve been working on a system for resizing components in the same way you can resize boards. This will eliminate the need for having many different components that are just the same component resized.

This feature was suggested last week by @ForLoveOfCats. Thanks, Cats!

If you’d like to receive an email each time we post one of these blogs, you can sign up for our newsletter. Be sure also to wishlist Logic World on Steam and join the official Discord.

See you next Wednesday!

Hi! Sorry Im Late! Also i have a idea can you make it so you can change the size and font of the text on the text label?

You can already change the size. Perhaps we could look into custom fonts in the future. At the very least, it’d be nice to have the choice between regular and monospaced.

Board preview is a neat idea but is it sure it doesn’t create problems with huge boards? No one would like to click on the board list and then wait 10 seconds for preview to load until they can do anything else… I don’t doubt Jimmys ability to make it work good but just in case i would suggest adding an option to turn off the previews. Or even better: The game should quit trying to render the image if it takes longer than a second or so and display a button to force load it anyway if players needs it.

I was thinking a configurable limit for maximum model complexity, and if a model exceeds it you get a click here to load model.

It’s also conceivable that I could make model loading asynchronous, so that the game doesn’t lag while loading a complex model.

I like the first option more, gives me more control over things :D

@JimmyDeveloper3 years ago

I was thinking I’d do both :)

Alternative title: The It’s Technically Not Yet Thursday In Some Timezones Edition

Sorry for the late post. I ran into a lot of issues with board models and only got them fully working this morning, and I didn’t want that to be the only item today.
